Strategic Facilitation

I help organizations move complex work forward with clarity, honesty, and respect for people's time and humanity, not just the process.

I work with nonprofits, labor organizations, and other mission-driven teams navigating decisions, growth, transitions, and ambitious plans.

From strategic planning to leadership retreats, I design conversations that make room for people and produce practical next steps.

The goal is not simply a well-run meeting. It is a room where people can decide what comes next and who will carry it forward.

About

Nikhol J. Atkins.

"Name what is real. Offer tools that sustain. Create a space that feels safe and authentic."

I work at the intersection of strategy, facilitation, and how people actually show up in rooms.

For more than 20 years, I've worked alongside people in labor, community organizations, and public life.

I bring that experience to strategic planning, leadership development, and conversations that need thoughtful facilitation.

How I Work

My approach is shaped by facilitation, improv, stand up, and show production, along with formal study in leadership, spirituality, culture, and health.

Before each engagement, I take time to understand the organization’s priorities, the people involved, and what the session needs to accomplish. In the room, I encourage meaningful participation while keeping the group focused on decisions and next steps.

Organizational change takes energy. Where it fits the purpose of the gathering, I integrate practical well-being tools such as grounding, stress management, and sustainable work practices.

When the work calls for it, trusted collaborators with backgrounds in coaching and theater come in to deepen what is possible.

Hard work and joy are not opposites. The room should feel like both are possible.

What the Work Can Produce
A strategic plan with priorities, owners, and practical next steps
A retreat designed around decisions, participation, and shared commitments
A written summary of decisions, responsibilities, and follow-up when included in the scope
What I Believe
Clarity matters more than complexity
You can tell the truth without blowing things up
An agenda is a tool. The work is what happens in the room and after.

Investment

Each engagement is priced according to its format, duration, preparation, and follow-through. Strategy sessions, facilitated retreats, multi-session planning, and well-being sessions are scoped individually. After an initial conversation, I provide a proposal that outlines the approach, deliverables, timeline, and investment.

Virtual and in-person work are available. Travel, when required, is discussed as part of the proposal. Reach out early for retreats and multi-day engagements so there is time to plan well.

Let's talk about the work

Planning a retreat, strengthening a leadership team, or preparing for what's next? Tell me what you're hoping to accomplish. You don't need to arrive with a problem to solve or a complete plan.

What happens next

1. I review your inquiry. I typically respond within three business days.

2. We talk. We'll start with a brief conversation about your goals, participants, timing, and what support might be useful.

3. We define the engagement. If there's a good fit, I'll outline the approach, deliverables, timeline, and investment in a proposal.

Available virtually and in person, with travel discussed during planning. For retreats and multi-session work, earlier inquiries allow more time to design the engagement.
